Description of the works:
DSM have been appointed as principal contractor for the demolition and clearance of numerous buildings on two separate sites by the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. The works were tendered through the Crown Commercial Services Framework and DSM were appointed, following independent appraisal of our quality and cost proposals. The works are phased on two separate areas of the hospital site. Project constraints & challenges include:
- Segregation and security of the sites on a live hospital
- Collaboration with the clients consultants to satisfy contract requirements
- Provision of 24/7 environmental monitoring for noise, dust and vibration
- Maintaining hospital traffic routes on site (specifically access to A&E)
- Careful management of parking arrangements
- Accommodating unannounced arrival of the air ambulance
Achievements:
- No down time as a result of NHS/Government COVID-19 restrictions
- No accidents, incidents or environmental breaches recorded
- Consistently meeting client key milestones and delivery dates
